Intensive Driving Courses (Crash Course, Fast Track Driving Lessons) - We Will Get the Driving Instructors to Contact You

Guidance reviewed: 25 September 2026.

Intensive driving courses, sometimes called crash courses or fast-track lessons, concentrate tuition into a shorter period. They can suit some learners, but more hours in a day do not remove the need to build safe, independent driving skills.

Before booking

Ask the instructor to assess your current experience before recommending a number of hours. Discuss:

  • how lessons will be spread across each day and where breaks fit;
  • whether the same instructor and vehicle will be used;
  • what happens if progress is quicker or slower than expected;
  • the full price, deposit, cancellation and refund terms; and
  • whether a practical test is included or must be booked separately.

Be cautious of promises that you will pass within a fixed time. DVSA says there is no minimum number of lessons that applies to everyone. Test readiness depends on whether you can drive safely and independently, including on unfamiliar roads and without prompts.

Theory and practical tests

You must pass the theory test before booking a practical driving test. Use the official GOV.UK booking service and confirm any test arrangement in writing. Do not assume that paying for an intensive course guarantees a suitable test date.

The Driving Schools Directory introduces pupils to independent schools; it does not operate or sell courses. Ask instructors in your town about intensive courses or find local schools offering them.
