Female Driving Instructors

Guidance reviewed: 25 September 2026.

Some pupils prefer to learn with a female driving instructor. You can state that preference when searching or making an enquiry, although availability depends on the instructors covering your area.

Make the same checks before booking

Anyone paid to teach you to drive must be a qualified approved driving instructor or a licensed trainee. Check the green or pink badge displayed in the windscreen. Ask about the car and transmission, lesson length, price, availability, teaching approach and cancellation terms before committing to regular lessons.

A good working relationship matters. The instructor should communicate clearly, adapt lessons to your progress and help you learn to drive safely and independently.

Search for schools offering a female instructor, then enter your town, or send an enquiry to matching instructors. You may also find our guide to choosing and checking an instructor useful.
